Built between 1886 and 1894, Tower Bridge proudly spans the River Thames. When considering where to eat near Tower Bridge, you can choose either the North or South side of the Thames.

If you’re coming to Tower Bridge from the South, it’s a short walk from Borough Market or London Bridge. If you’re arriving from the North, there’s a tube station at Tower Bridge itself.

There are a surprising amount of restaurants with views of Tower Bridge, as well as some hidden gems on quiet backstreets. These are our favourite dining options in the local area.

1. The Ivy Tower Bridge

One of the most popular restaurants by Tower Bridge, The Ivy has a great location on the South side of the River Thames. It’s wise to book in order to avoid disappointment.

Choose from classic comfort food such as The Ivy hamburger and shepherd’s pie, or healthy options like pan-fried sea bass fillet. The Ivy is open for all day dining, from 11.30 am on weekdays and 9 am on weekends.

There’s a large outdoor terrace overlooking Tower Bridge, with parasols and plants giving an effective separation from the street. The interior is decorated in colourful hues of orange and teal blue, created by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio.

2. Coppa Club

On the North side of the River Thames, close to the Tower of London, you’ll find Coppa Club. This relaxed all day eatery has stylish interior design by Archer Humphryes Architects and a 250 cover restaurant with a fantastic view of Tower Bridge.

Diners at Coppa Club have 3 seating options, the outdoor terrace, inside restaurant or the famous igloo pods. The food at Coppa Club is simple and unpretentious.

Think sourdough pizzas, Devon crab linguine and sticky toffee pudding. It’s served on stylish blue speckled Portugese stoneware.

3. Tavolino

One of our favourite London al fresco dining spots, Tavolino boasts unobstructed views of the Thames, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. There’s a large outdoor terrace, roped off from passers by.

This stylish Italian restaurant is located at the top of a flight of steps, next to City Hall and the More London fountains. The elegant interior is spread over 2 floors, with the bathrooms and private dining space being at the top.

Tavolino specialize in Italian food dishes such as silk handkerchiefs pasta and homemade tiramisu. There are some healthy options such as pan-seared hake, depending on the season. Waiting staff are friendly and attentive.

4. Gaucho Tower Bridge

Renowned for their Argentinean steaks, Gaucho also have a large wine selection. The setting is as good as the food, with a screened off terrace in the pedestrian zone next to the More London fountains.

They have a set lunch menu as well as an a la carte menu option. Tuck into beef carpaccio, spiral cut churrasco de lomo or spatchcock chicken. Finish with a salted dulce de lece cheesecake or an Argentine ice cream.

If you’re organizing an event, the private dining room is an ideal spot.

5. Le Pont de la Tour

In the atmospheric surroundings of Shad Thames, you’ll find Le Pont de la Tour. One of the best Tower Bridge fine dining options, this riverside restaurant specializes in French cuisine.

The charming dining terrace has fantastic views of Tower Bridge. This is a great place to while away an evening and watch the sunset.

Enjoy Cornish rock oysters, steak frites and apple tarte tatin. There’s a good children’s menu too.

6. Vicinity

This spacious bar and restaurant is located just below Tower Bridge within the Guoman Hotel on the North side of the Thames. There’s an extensive outdoor terrace as well as two inside areas with comfy banquette seating.

Open from 12pm to 12am daily, this is a great place to soak up the sun in Summer. When the weather gets cooler, grab a seat by the fire pit and enjoy a warming Irish coffee.

7. Restaurant Story

Tucked away on Tooley Street, Restaurant Story is one of the best restaurants near Tower Bridge. The brainchild of chef Tom Sellers, Story gained a Michelin star within 5 months of opening.

They create a meal for you depending on your preferences, incorporating some Story classic specialties and some seasonal dishes. The restaurant has floor to ceiling windows with a view over a leafy little square.

8. Butler’s Wharf Chop House

A stone’s throw from Tower Bridge yet hidden away down an alleyway you’ll find Butler’s Wharf Chophouse. This riverside restaurant has been going strong for many years.

Part of the D&D group, the Chop House does a fine line in grass-fed Aberdeen Angus steaks and London Oak smoked salmon. 

There are great Tower Bridge views from the terrace. Inside, the decor has a pared down look with wooden panelling and well spaced tables.

9. Bravas Tapas

One of the most popular restaurants in St Katharine Docks Marina, Bravas Tapas specialises in Spanish food. As you can imagine, they do some great tapas.

Try the Moorish spiced lamb chops with rosemary aioli or the grilled octopus with toasted garlic and olive oil. They have several cava wines to choose from as well as a good selection of red, rose and white Spanish wines.

There’s an unfussy dining room as well as a couple of rows of outdoor seating. Either way, you get great views of the boats.

10. The Melusine

This St Katharine Docks restaurant is a true hidden gem. They focus on sustainable seafood from the British Isles.

Serving the freshest oysters and fish, The Melusine has a fantastic location overlooking the marina. There’s also a floating pop-up pontoon, Avalon, where you can dine directly on the water.

11. Gunpowder Tower Bridge

This modern Indian restaurant and wine bar is located on the ground floor of the upmarket Berkeley Homes: One Tower Bridge development. There is seating for 100 diners and a terrace overlooking Tower Bridge.

The menu has a nice selection of small plates plates including Karwari soft shell crab, Goan style wild Madagascan prawns and egg curry masala. Finish with an old monk rum pudding or dark chocolate and cinnamon passion fruit shrikhand, a traditional Indian sweet.

If you particularly enjoyed this Tower Bridge restaurant, there’s a second Gunpowder site located close to Spitalfields Market.

12. Baluchi

A great place to enjoy fine dining Indian food. Baluchi is located within the former Assembly Hall of St. Olave’s School, now The LaLiT hotel.

The service is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed, despite the jaw-dropping interior. Enjoy craft cocktails and specialty Indian dishes and bread cooked in an iron tandoor.
